Golden Osmanthus Industrial Design Award (GODA)

June through the end of July 2026,

 It is intended to strengthen industrial design collaboration between China and ASEAN, making it especially relevant for designers and companies in Southeast Asia.

The objectives are:

  • Promoting innovation in industrial and product design.

  • Encouraging commercialization of design concepts.

  • Supporting manufacturing and industrial upgrading in China  and ASEAN.

  • Building stronger China–ASEAN design cooperation.  

The competition has three main objectives :

  1. Guangxi Products Renewal Track:                                                                    Focuses on redesigning, upgrading, or adding value to products that originate from China. Rather than creating entirely new products, this track encourages designers to improve existing  products through innovation.                                                                          

  2. ASEAN Application Track :                                                              Intended to encourage designers to create or adapt products and design solutions specifically for the needs of markets of the ASEAN. This can emphasis  design applications that address opportunities or challenges in ASEAN Countries.                                                                                               

  3. Public Creative Track :                                                                      Invite creative ideas from the general public, students, designers, startups and innovators  if they are not commercially produced.

Prizes categories are:-

  • Grand Award

  • Gold Award

  • Excellence Award

  • ASEAN Application Award

  • Public Creative Award

The total prize pool is RMB 3 million. (Equivalent to Ringgit 1.8 million)

The 2026 call for entries is open from June through the end of July 2026, with the award ceremony scheduled for late September 2026.

Focuses on redesigning, upgrading, or adding value to products that originate from Guangxi, China. Rather than creating entirely new products, this track encourages designers to improve existing Guangxi products through innovation.

This may include:

  • Enhancing functionality: making products easier, safer, or more efficient to use.

  • Improving aesthetics : giving products a more contemporary, distinctive, or premium appearance.

  • Increasing sustainability : using eco-friendly materials, reducing waste, or improving energy efficiency.

  • Strengthening market appeal : making products more competitive in domestic and international markets.

  • Incorporating technology : adding smart features or improving manufacturing processes.

Typical products that could be included are:

  • Consumer goods

  • Furniture

  • Household products

  • Agricultural equipment

  • Traditional handicrafts

  • Food packaging

  • Tourism and cultural products

  • Industrial equipment manufactured in Guangxi

The goal is to help manufacturers and brands from ASRAN -China become more competitive through better design. Because Guangxi serves as China’s gateway to ASEAN, this track also encourages design solutions that can appeal to both the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets.
